3. Implementation: The adoption of the Gregorian calendar was not immediate. It took several centuries for countries to transition from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar. For example, Britain and its colonies did not adopt the Gregorian calendar until 1752, while Russia did not make the switch until 1918.
